As citizens across the globe prepare to celebrate Earth Hour by shutting off their lights simultaneously at 8:30pm, so as to “combat” climate change, we’d like to take the opportunity to thank North Korea for being such a leader on this issue.

North Korea has steadily celebrated Earth Hour for the past 60 years, taking great caution to forbid their population access to adequate lighting and technology—-all in the name of saving the planet.

Thank you, North Korea. We’ll never forget.
